In the fall of 2012, a fisheries conservation research project was implemented by Dr. Brice Semmens and graduate student Lyall Bellquist of Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The goal of this project is to work in partnership with the local community (e.g., the California Department of Fish and Game, the San Diego Oceans Foundation, the San Diego Lifeguards in La Jolla, and the recreational fishing community) to measure the current status of resident fish populations, which will help us ensure the longLterm health of our local communities of marine species. See more information on this partnership here.
