The La Jolla Cove Swim is an open water swim event that includes a 1-mile swim, 250-meter swim for kids, 3-mile swim, and 4-mile swim.
It is the second oldest open water swim in the United States. 2025 will mark 109 years since the first race was held. It has been run almost exclusively by volunteers and community members. The La Jolla Cove Swim is a non-profit event and is operated under The Kiwanis Club of La Jolla, a 501(c)3 organization. All proceeds from this annual swim, which takes place the first Sunday after Labor, will be donated to community organizations such as La Jolla Concerts by the Sea and The Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego.
