Bob’s Dreaded Nighttime Swim 38th Annual What – 1 mile open water swim in the dark on the full moon in August. When – Saturday, August 25, 2018 Cost - Free! It's that time of year when insane people swim from La Jolla Cove to La Jolla Shores Beach in the dark on the full moon in August. All the victims, I mean participants, will meet at the lifeguard tower at La Jolla Cove at 8:45. At 9:00 pm we will enter the water at the Cove and swim to La Jolla Shores Beach. The swim is just under one mile. This is a great experience. (If you make it) Feel free to invite your friends. (or enemies) Warning – This swim is not for the faint of heart. Sharks have been sighted in the area of the swim. There are NO support people. You may get separated from the main group and find yourself alone in the dark water. Do not do this swim unless you are a strong swimmer and fearless. Not sure about the water temperature so you may need a wetsuit. You may wear fins if you wish. No RSVP necessary, just show up. It's that time of year when insane people swim from La Jolla Cove to La Jolla Shores Beach in the dark on the full moon in August.
All the victims, I mean participants, will meet at the lifeguard tower at La Jolla Cove at 8:45. At 9:00 pm we will enter the water at the Cove and swim to La Jolla Shores Beach.
