La Jolla Cove Swim Club’s
“GREATERMAN” SWIM
Sunday, September 7, 2014
(The day the Gatorman would have been…if it hadn’t been cancelled!)
WHEN: Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 9:00 AM
WHO: Members of La Jolla Cove Swim Club and anyone else who wants to.
WHERE: Swim from the Cove to Scripps Pier and back, 3 Miles
WHY: Due to construction at the Cove, the La Jolla Rough Water Swim, which includes the Gatorman 3 mile swim, is cancelled this year. So some of us will do this swim on the day it would have been, because we’re programmed that way.
COST: Free.
START: We’ll have an “unofficial” start at 9:00 AM.
TIME: We’ll keep “unofficial” time for those who care. If you want to know your time more exactly, take your own stop watch.
SAFETY:
The La Jolla Cove Swim Club does not assume responsibility for your safety during this swim. You are responsible for your own safety. If you haven’t done a swim of this distance previously, we recommend that you not do it.
We may (or may not) have a couple Kayaks out there for safety, but there’s a lot of water between the cove and pier, so you can’t assume that they will be near you if you need help.
We’ll tell the lifeguards that a bunch of people will be swimming to the Pier and back
Wear a bright colored cap so you can be seen more easily.
It is recommended that you swim in pairs or groups.
